PROJECT DESCRIPTIONThe interpretive strategy in the redesign of the Chesapeake Heritage & Visitor Center was to provide a visual orientation of the area and its attractions by taking a simple walk around the room. Stunning imagery by local professional photographers made this possible. The overarching design theme of the Center focused on its immediate proximity to the Chesapeake Bay and Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Interpretive content provided information on both of these subjects. Other features included a Bay Bridge “selfie” exhibit; a touchscreen that enabled visitors to easily locate attractions, restaurants and accommodations; and visitor “sign in” kiosk where data could be collected.
