In 1999, Smithsonian Institution’s National Zoo made the high profile decision to adopt two pandas from China at a cost of $10 million. Commitments were quickly made for half the amount. In need of an additional $5 million, we were engaged to develop a case statement. This very exciting project gave us behind-the-scenes insight into the workings of the Zoo, its amazing range of animal species, and the inspiring staff who care for them. We featured all this as well as compelling information about the preservation of the panda in the case statement, used for in-person solicitations. Funding for this very popular project was secured quickly.
